This listing offers the opportunity for both collectors of vintage music boxes and individuals who love both music and antiques to own a vintage Stella 17 1/2 double comb disc player and matching disc storage cabinet with 38 discs. It was serviced in February of 2016 by a reputable vintage music technician. The mechanism was cleaned and oiled, a damaged lower comb was replaced the a new one that had been imported from Europe but never installed in the box, the combs were tuned to each other as well as to the original default specs, and the soundboard, which had a small crack in it, was properly repaired. There are no missing or damaged teeth in either of the dual combs. Wording on the chromed plate reads, Brevette SGOG-British Patent; D. Muster; Swiss made; Patented, Sept. 22, 1885; April 9, 1989; Aug. 2, 1897-+12748; June 29, 1897-+13796;Aug. The gold painted base plate has the number “6549″ engraved into it. The disc player was manufactured by Mermoot Freres, St. Croix, Switzerland, circa 1900. Following are the titles of the discs : Silver Lake Varsoviana, circa 1889; Artist Life Waltz, circa 1896; Babes in Toyland Waltz (#99); The Wedding of the Reuben and the Maid (#774); Soi mienne Sei Mein (#350), circa 1897; Valse Bleu (#718); Creole Belles March Two Step (#788); Funeral March (#251), circa 1897; Old Heidelberg (#1208); The Gondolier (#958); Carmen-Song of the Toreedor (#221), circa 1897; The Tyrolean-Nightengale (#65). Circa 1896; Blue Bell March (#9920); Break The News to Mother (#528), circa 1889; The Diplomat March (#1025); Invitation to the Dance Waltz (#11), circa 1896; The Bells of Corneville (#236), circa 1897; MIGNON-Knowest thou that fair land (#40), circa 1896; Son of my soul Thou Saviour Dear (#342), circa 1897; Sweet Saturday Night (#847); 2 copies of Legende du vieux temps (#309); My Little Georgia House, circa 1899; The Maid and the Mummy (#1020); Moon, Moon (#824); The Mocking Bird (#117), circa 1896; Santa Lucia (#323), circa 1897; Amoureuse Valse; Bridal Chorus (#38), circa 1896; Die lustrige wittwe (#302); Always in the Way (#1142); Stories of Hoffman (#270), circa 1897; The Holy City (#417), circa 1898; So Long Mary Song (#1140); In a Cozy Corner (#816); You (#688), circa 1900; Love Me, and the World is Mine (#1264); and one disc that I cannot identify. The disc player footed cabinet is made of mahogany with a nice finish and patina. Dimension are 29 1/2 wide” at the base by 22″ deep and the cabinet is 15 high There are very small brad sized holes around the perimeter of the player lid that have been filled with wood filler many years ago. There is a drawer for the storage of discs and the original pulls are in place. There is also a brass escutcheon and a brass key for the player lid. The original crank handle with black wood knob shows nice patina wear from usage over the many years. The footed disc storage cabinet is also original to the player and is 30 1/2″ wide by 23″ deep and it is 29 1/2 tall. The original casters are in place. The keyhole opening is missing the small brass escutcheon; the key is included. I realize this complicates communication but there is nothing I can do about their policy! I cannot assume any liability for the pieces once they leave my home. I will, however, be happy to make suggestions as to how to have it insured as well as give you the name of a reputable blanket shipper I have used many times to deliver antique pieces.
