Offering for sale this guaranteed all original antique mechanical music box made by the REGINA MUSIC BOX COMPANY of Rahway, NJ. This is a DOUBLE COMB model playing 15 ½ discs. The quarter-sawn OAK cabinet is in excellent condition. Notice the beautiful graining that is present throughout the wooden case it was restored years ago and it shows very nicely. This particular specimen is a 1c coin op player and it has the original coin slide as well as the cash box drawer on the right side. While the coin slide will accept a penny, it should be noted that the coin slide will still operate the music box even if a penny is not inserted in the slot. (So the coin slot is effectively a simple on/off switch). The disc plays 2 times for each penny. It was recently lubricated and the machine is in good playing condition. There are two steel combs. One has two teeth broken but those matching teeth (notes) are intact on the opposing comb so the full musical range is intact. Please watch the YouTube video and listen to the machine playing. It is very strong and crisp. The serial number of the box is 12272 indicating a manufacturing date of 1895 (per Bowers Encyclopedia of Mechanical Musical Instruments). The box comes with 5 original discs in good playing condition. There are no keys that operate the locks. The side cash box has an old (original) lock – there is a flat key that can be used to pull the drawer open, but that key does not operate the lock. Please watch the YouTube video to see and hear the machine. Note that this machine is also for sale locally listing subject to early closing. The box has been priced for a quick sale taking into consideration the incomplete coin mechanism and the two broken teeth. Review my recent feedback for vintage coin op machines It is overwhelmingly positive. Have a look at my other auctions. There are several nice examples of vintage trade stimulators, gambling and other penny arcade coin op machines now and coming over the next several weeks. Get your own valid XHTML YouTube embed code.
